Kathmandu Day Tour
Trip Overview
Who are the Nagas, why is Kathmandu their valley and how does it affect the lives of Nepalis? You will find out the answers to this and other questions at our day tour. See Nepal from a historical, cultural and spiritual perspective. You will visit several temples, do a practice to attract good luck, see a living goddess and walk through a colorful bazaar with mysterious artifacts.
What to expect
Swayambu – the temple of monkeys: You will climb up 365 steps to the ancient Swayambu stupa – the stupa of longevity. I will talk about the Kathmandu valley and the Nepalese universe. You will make offerings and practices for long life and good luck, and also see the monkeys living here.
Durbar and the living goddess: At the royal Durbar Square, you will see the oldest temple, Kastamandap, and other ancient buildings. Enter the Kumari Palace to see the living goddess.
The colorful Asam Bazaar: The bustling Asam Market hides the most significant temples of the mythical Naga valley. You will discover artifacts from the realm of mysterious creatures.
Bouda is the beginning of Tantric Buddhism: I will explain why Tantric Buddhism would not have come to us without the stupa of Bouda. The stupa is believed to grant wishes – don’t forget to make them.
Pashupatinath – cremation and ritual aarti: This is a large temple complex and a world cultural heritage site. On the banks of the river, residents perform rituals to bid farewell to the dead, and Tibetan lamas do practice of giving their bodies for the benefit of all living things.
